Done in Utrecht, accompanied by the bells of the same great tower whose dreary psalm tunes distressed Boswell. Completed in the month of June 1985, once again too chilly for the time of the year. Gedichten uit het dagboek van James Boswell (Edinburgh 1740 - Londen 1795), Schots schrijver en jurist. Hij studeerde na Edinburgh o.m. in 1763 in Utrecht waar hij hevig verliefd raakte op Belle van Zuylen. Het James Boswell Instituut van de Universiteit van Utrecht herinnert nog aan hem, terwijl zijn naam ook voorkomt in de Utrechtse Literaire Canon. Hij werd vooral bekend door zijn biografie: The life of Samuel Johnson.
